FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When should I hire a designer if I’m building a new custom home?

Getting started sooner rather than later is key! We're excited to join forces with your architect and builder, turning this into a true team effort. Assembling what we like to call a 'dream team' right at the beginning sets the stage for a smooth and successful journey. This approach allows us to collaborate closely with the architect, ensuring that your home not only meets your lifestyle needs but also aligns perfectly with your design vision. Bringing in an interior designer from the get-go is not only more convenient but also saves you valuable time compared to bringing them in later in the process.

If I only need furniture, could you still help?

Absolutely! We love to transform existing spaces with just furniture and furnishings. Whether it’s one room or your entire home we can help! Lisette Reyes has plenty of experience as an interior designer in Napa County furnishing existing homes. It’s amazing what new furniture and decor can do for a space. What is the difference between interior decorator and designer?

Let's dive into the main distinction between an interior designer and an interior decorator, and it all boils down to expertise. A skilled interior designer is not only well-versed in interior architecture but also collaborates closely with architects to craft the perfect interior environment tailored just for you. On the flip side, interior decorators specialize in enhancing spaces with furniture and aesthetic touches, but they may not have the same level of expertise in architectural design. They typically step in after the construction phase. So, while interior designers can certainly bring beautiful decor into play, decorators don't engage in the full-fledged design process.

What are your design fees?

We charge a flat-rate fee so you can budget for it properly. It is calculated by the total square footage of your home. The fee per square foot depends on the service you choose.

Do I need an interior designer if I already have an architect?

Absolutely! While an architect shapes the structure from the outside, here in Napa County, our focus as interior designers is on crafting the interior space, honing in on every aesthetic detail. From selecting flooring to designing cabinetry and choosing countertop materials, we're there every step of the way! It's truly a dynamic duo—having both an interior designer and an architect is key to a stellar new home build. That's why they call it a 'dream team'! Together, we fuse functionality with beauty, creating spaces that truly shine. Trust us, you won't want to miss out on the expertise an interior designer brings to your new build.

How do you determine proper size of a kitchen island?

Though there are fundamental things to consider that are relevant to any kitchen design regarding the island, the size shouldn't, however, be determined by some prescriptive dimension. The length and width of an island should instead be based on the actual size and layout of the kitchen space you’re working with.
